I love historic homes - always have as long back as I can remember. I think this I likely attributable to a few formative early experiences that I had growing up. Anywhere I have lived in my adult life, has tended to be places that had some age to them. Having said that, I have really been more fully appreciating modern home styles as well, but that is a discussion for another time.

Largely because of my affinity for historical homes, I ended up in Historic Springfield which is Jacksonville's oldest neighborhood. Its development really took off after the Great Fire of 1901 and loads of prominent citizens flocked to this burgeoning neighborhood, turning it into the premier place in the City to live at the time.

Like many in-town neighborhoods, Springfield eventually fell on hard times. It is now, however, experiencing a resurrection of sorts - a true Renaissance as people are now appreciating the architecture, tree-lined streets, and porch lifestyle that the neighborhood provides. Have you seen the area recently? If you have spent any significant time in Jacksonville and have not seen Springfield in the past few years, you will likely be shocked at how it has blossomed in recent years.

This brings us to the new listing that we are getting ready to introduce - 2014 N Laura Street. This home has been lovingly restored, with a true appreciation for the character and timeless charm of its architectural style. This is a large house, over 2,600 square feet and it features 4 bedrooms, and 4 full bathrooms. There are even two laundry rooms! One for each floor.

The grand foyer opens up to a beautiful staircase and original strip oak flooring. A procession of well-proportioned rooms greets you as you walk through - high ceilings, multiple fireplaces, and large windows that let loads of light in. The kitchen, near the rear of the house, is open concept, large, and inviting. It is perfect for entertaining.

Upstairs, there are four large bedrooms, two of which have their own dedicated ensuite bathrooms, and a third full bath for the remaining two bedrooms. There is even a walk-up attic!

The lot is large with plenty of space for off-street parking, and the wrap around porch is to die for. We can't wait to introduce this handsome house! Look for an announcement this week!
